This specialised Backbend class focuses on developing safe, strong, and progressive spinal extension.

The session begins with a targeted warm-up to awaken the spine, shoulders, and hips, followed by strengthening work for the core, back muscles, and stabilising structures. A variety of backbends will be practised with detailed instructions, demonstrations, and accessible modifications to support different levels of practitioners.


  • Suitable for students with some yoga experience who wish to deepen and refine their backbend practice.
  • A non-vinyasa based asana practice centred on cultivating body awareness, mindful engagement, and stable movement patterns. Pranayama, chanting, and simple stillness practices may also be included.
  • Suitable for intermediate & advanced practitioners with a consistent practice. This class builds upon the foundational strength and mobility developed in Level 1 to explore more challenging backbends and progressive sequences. Modifications are offered to support a smooth transition from Level 1 to Levels 2 & 3.
    Deep backbends and full expressions may be included. Not suitable for beginners.
